The Metro Bus and Rail Facilities Accessibility Inventory will provide a comprehensive and detailed study assessment of Los Angeles County’s bus and rail facilities. This effort will evaluate existing rail stations, BRT stations and adjacent bus terminals for compliance with all current and applicable accessibility regulations.
Given that Metro bus and rail facilities were constructed and upgraded at different times, the compliance standards at the time of design may be different than the current accessibility standards. As such Metro is conducting this project in order to complete bus and rail facility inventory that will identify those instances were Metro is not in compliance with FTA/DOT ADA guidance; as well as the original standards at time of design/construction.
Therefore, Metro teamed up with Transystems to create bus and rail facility evaluation guidelines, to do Metro bus and rail facility inspections, to identify all accessibility features at bus/rail stations, and to develop sets of recommended improvements.
