The Purple Line Extension Project will extend the Metro Purple Line subway nine miles west from the current terminus at Wilshire/Western and add seven new stations. Construction for the first section of the project began in 2015 and be completed in 2023. This specific contract is to relocate wet utilities and electrical conduits for the Wilshire/La Brea and Wilshire/Fairfax Stations.
MORGNER was contracted to provide the contractor with a noise/vibration control plan to meet Metro requirements and to determine the extent of mitigation necessary for contractor to comply with local ordinances and to operate within tolerances that would mitigate any risk of damage to near and sensitive facilities. MORGNER has assisted the contractor and Metro establish specifications for an extensive monitoring program that includes a specially trained expert to ensure construction activities are compliant with Metro criteria by overseeing the contractor’s activities.
Continuous monitoring in set intervals of activities ensured that Contractor is not held liable for non-compliant activities outside of their own scope of work.
Provides Contractor with expert consultant in the areas of Risk Management and Construction Management to coordinate effectively with the Owner and the community.
Notable Performance Milestones
Worked with Contractor and Metro to create a new position titled Noise Control and Compliance Representative that serves as the standard for further contracts on the Purple Line Extension Project.
Continuously monitored noise and vibration and delivered daily and weekly summary reports on data collected.
