Project Overview
The Los Angeles International Airport Qantas Hangar Demolition Project, which is part of the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Midfield Satellite Concourse (MSC) Common Plan of Development Project. The entire MSC Common Plan of Development Project comprises approximately 60 acres and is located at the northwest corner of Pershing Drive and World Way West in the City of Los Angeles, California. The project land is owned by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and is being developed by multiple contractors in increments over an approximately 5.5-year period. In 2015, LAWA applied to the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) for a Notice of Intent (NOI) for the for the initial phase of development of the MSC Project, which at that time included certain “enabling projects” involving the removal and/or relocation of existing improvements located within the MSC Common Plan of Development Project area. The next notable increment of development for the MSC Common Plan of Development Project is the Qantas Hangar Demolition Project. The Qantas Hangar Demolition Project is occurring under a contract separate from that of the original enabling projects and is being completed by a separate contractor. Each of the two projects function independently and do not limit or otherwise compromise the implementation and effectiveness of the other project.
Work Performed
The ability of MORGNER’S stormwater team to prepare and oversee the implementation of a site specific Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) is demonstrated by our performance as the Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD) and Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP) for the Griffith Company on the Qantas Hangar Demolition project located on the grounds of the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). MORGNER’S role for the project was to develop and maintain a site specific SWPPP for the project and to perform weekly, pre-storm, during storm and post storm site inspections in order to monitor the effectiveness of the Best Management Practices (BMPs) being implemented on the project. Once the demolition is completed and the site had been stabilized, the Notice of Termination (NOT) for coverage under the Construction General Permit will be submitted for approval.
